POISON BERRY FOR ANOREXIA, ALOPECIA, PILES

Solanum indicum commonly known as poison berry  and brihatee in sanskrit. It belongs the family solanaceae. It is common in waste places and road sides , almost throughout the tropical parts of India. Whole plant , fruits, seeds, leaves, and roots are used
It is astringent, cardiotonic, digestive, removes apathy towards food. Regulate excretion of waste products from the body. Efficacious in anorexia, helpful in skin diseases, fever, dyspepsia, colic, cough , and dyspepsia
Uses
1. Anorexia- Its fruits are cooked , spiced and then put in to boiled curd . It is useful in anorexia
2. Alopecia -- Juices of fruits mixed with honey by local application destroys alopecia
Fruit and fruits of abrus precatorius are pounded with juice of poison berry fruits and rubbed with dhattura fruit. It removes alopecia
3. For conception- The women should take white poison berry root by right nostril for male progeny and left one for female child.
4. Fever--Powder of poison berry fruit and dry ginger mixed together is blown in to the nostril. By this the patient sneezes and regains consciousness 
5. Cough- Poison berry fruit is slightly steamed in water pounded and cooked in ghee. Then it is added with powdered rocksalt and taken . It stimulates digestion and alleviates cough
6. Pediatric diseases--The child who vomits breast milk frequently should be given fruit juice of kantakari, and poison berry mixed with pancakola , honey and ghee
7. Piles-- Poison berry fruit is boiled in alkaline water of Luffa acutangula and fried with ghee.It is taken with jaggery to full satisfaction followed by in take of buttermilk. It destroys piles within a week
Dose-- Powder 3-5 gm
Decoction-- 50-100 ml
