Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that disturbs cell growth in your nervous system, causing tumors to form on nerve tissue. These tumors may develop anywhere in your nervous system, including in your brain, spinal cord and nerves. Neurofibromatosis is usually diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood.
The tumors are usually noncancerous (benign), but in some cases these tumors become cancerous (malignant) tumors. People with neurofibromatosis often experience only mild symptoms. Effects of neurofibromatosis can range from hearing loss, learning impairment, and heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) complications to severe disability due to nerve compression by tumors, loss of vision and severe pain.
Clinically several types of lesions occur, which include soft sessile dome shaped to pedunculated lesions called neurofibroma. These are present in hundreds, usually on trunk and limbs raging from a few millimeters to several centimeters in diameters
When fibroma is diffuse , elongated and present along the course of the nerve , specially the trigeminal or upper cervical , it is named as plxiform neurofibroma
The second most common feature is pigmentation  which is present in majority of cases as sharply defined light brown oval patches, 0.5 – 5 cm in diameter, called café-an- lait spots. In about 20 percent of cases a pathognomic sign is presence of freckle like pigmented macule in the axillary vaults and in the perineum
Neurofibromata may be associated with neurological involement like intracranial tumor which amy produce epilepsy , pheochromocytoma of the adrenal glands leading to hypertension in childhood, gastrointestinal lesions leading to recurrent haemorrhage or obstruction and involement of lower urinary tract leading to urinary symptoms
Enlargement or pain in neurofibroma suggest the possibiliy of malignant changes , however, rapid enlargement usually follows haemorrhage on the neurofibroma
HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICINES
Arnica montana 200 - For neurofibroma. Give 4 times daily
Bryonia 200- Hard nodosities in several parts. Give 4 times daily
Hypericum 200- When arnica fails it should be tried. Give 4 times daily
Cacarea carb.200 – Fibroma appears every 4 weeks.  Fibroma on face and hands. Give 4 times daily
Calcarea flou. 30- Indurations are stony hard. Give 4 times daily
Lapis alba 30- Enlargement and indurations of glands, especially cervical. Give 4 times daily
Staphysagria 30- Pedunculated type. Growth extremely sensitive to touch . Give 4 times daily
Thuja 200- A specific remedy . Give once in a week
Carcinocin 1M- Intercurrent remedy . Give once in a week
