PRIMULA OBCONICA

BOTANICAL NAME:  Primula obconica

FAMILY:  Primulaceae

COMMON NAMES:  English: Poison primrose, Round leaved primula, German primrose.

DESCRIPTION:  An evergreen short lived perennial plant.  Leaves are basal. The leaves are light green , oval with slightly wavy edges and hairy. The leaves are allergic to skin. The flowers are carried in clusters at the end of the flower stalks. Flowers funnel shaped, varieties of colors from lilac, purple or white. Fruit a capsule.

DISTRIBUTION:  Asia, Japan, USA. A native of China.

PART USED:  Whole plant

HOMOEOPATHIC USES

SKIN: Great itching, worse at night. Small papules on a raised base. Eczema on arms, wrists, forearms, hands, papular and excoriated. Skin symptoms accompanied by febrile symptoms. Blisters on fingers. Purple blotches on back of hands. Papular eruption on chin, burns at night. Urticaria like eruptions on face.

ABDOMEN:  Pain in region of liver, and a less pain in spleen, worse by bending from side to side.

POTENCY:  3x and higher.
