DESCRIPTION: A perennial aquatic  herb with a thick horizontal root stock. Leaves floating and orbicular. Flowers large, solitary, axillary, white, fragrant. Fruit depressed globular flesh; seeds oblong.

DISTRIBUTION: Eatern and Southern parts of USA
