ZOOLOGICAL NAME:  Mercenaria mercenaria

COMMON NAMES :  English: Norther Quahog

DESCRIPTION:  Common American clam, edible , also found in certain parts of French AND English coast. The animal buries itself in the sea sand to a depth of about 10 cm., leaving only its siphon above the surface of the sand. The soft body is enclosed within two thick shells composed of calcium carbonate and of the size of a large human hand.

DISTRIBUTION:  East coast of North America ; in mud or sand in the intertidal zone.

PART USED:  Calm.

HOMOEOPATHIC USES

MIGRAINE:   Migraine of digestive origin. Frontal dull headache, behing the eye to the right with nausea, especially in the afternoon. Occipital headache on the right side , also in the afternoon. Headache accompanied by vertigo, nausea and vomiting. Feeling as if head were being held tightly. Frequency of urination, especially during the day.  Aggravated in the afternoon. Better by sitting quietly in the dark and in the late evening.

POTENCY:  Dispensed in a combination of 8x dilution of the flesh and 8x liquid attenuation of the shell, in equal proportions.
