GAULTHERIA: A REMEDY FOR ARTHRITIS.

GAULTHERIA PROCUMBENS

BOTANICAL NAME:  Gaultheria procumbens Linn.

FAMILY:  Ericaceae

COMMON NAMES: English: Wintergreen

DESCRIPTION:  A small shrub. Leaves 3 to 8, dark green, oval or obovate, almost glabrous, with ciliate teeth. Flowers solitary, nodding, white. Fruit a berry, bright red.

DISTRIBUTION:  North USA and Canada.

PART USED : Leaf.

HOMOEOPATHIC USES

Inflammatory arthritis, rheumatism,pleurodynia , sciatica and other neuralgias. Cystic and other prostatic irritation.

PLEURODYNIA: PLeurodynia with pain in anterior mediastinum.

GASTRITIS:  Acute gastritis. Severe pain in epigastrium. Prolonged vomiting. Gastralgia from nervous depression.

POTENCY:  Mother tincture and lower potencies. Oil of Gaultheria is also used for external application.
