BOTANICAL NAME—Iris tenax  Dougi

FAMILY—Iridaceae

COMMON NAMES—English- Tough –leaved-iris, Oregon iris ; French—Iris d’ Amerique

DESCRIPTION—A graceful , densely –foliaged perennial forming clumps. Most of the leaves are basal 0.3-0.5 m long and about 6 mm wide, laxly overlap the stems. The flowers dark purple in color. The fruits are oblong capsules.

DISTRIBUTION—Washington to northern California. Cultivated elsewhere.

PART USED—Whole plant.
