BOTANICAL NAME:  Tamus communis Linn.

FAMILY:  Dioscoreaceae

COMMON NAMES:  English:  Black Bryony, Ladies Seal.

DESCRIPTION:  A perennial herb. Leaves alternate , heart shaped, finely pointed, dark-green, glossy and stalked. Flowers small, yellowish green, unisexual, sexes on different plants, in racemes from leaf axis. Fruit a berry, globlose and red.

DISTRIBUTION:  South and Western Europe, North America and Asia Minor.

PART USED:  Root.

HOMOEOPATHIC USES

FRECKLES & CHILBLAINS:  It is a remedy for freckles and chilblains. It removes scars and deformities, soften harden tissues.

BONE FRACTURE:  Heals broken bones, dissolves congealed blood.

PAIN:  If laid on hip or knuckles or any part where there is great pain, it takes away the pain speedily.
