BOTANICAL NAME: Betonica officinalis Linn.

FAMILY:  Labiatae

COMMON NAMES:  English: Betony, Bishopswort.

DESCRIPTION:   A hardy perennial herb 30- to 90 cm high , lower leaves long petioled , ovate, oblong, crenate, cordate at the base, upper leaves distinct and sessile. Flowers purple in dense terminal spike

DISTRIBUTION:    Europe.                                                                    

PART USED: Whole plant

HOMOEOPATHIC USES 

PAIN:  Pain in various parts ,a analgesic . Pain in right temple, abdomen, hepatic region, transverse colon, gall bladder, right inguinal region and spermatic cord.

HEADACHE: Stitches in right temple. Fullness over and in eyes as if they would burst. Dull, heavy action in front region, better walking about in room.

SNEEZING: Frequent sneezing, on going indoors from open air increased nasal mucus. Great sensitiveness to take cold.

LUNGS: A feeling of oppressed breathing as from paralysis of diaphragm. On walking up hill must keep mouth open.

POTENCY:  3x and higher
