BOTANICAL NAME: Lapsana  communis Linn

FAMILY:  Compositae

COMMON NAMES: Common nipplewort.

DESCRIPTION:  A annual or biennial herb, it branches sparingly beneath the inflorescence. Leaves thin, alternate, petiolate, ovate to sub rotund, shallowly toothed, narrowed and less petiolate upward.  Flowers arranged in groups of 5-25 with 8-15 ray florets each. Inflorescence of several to many heads in loose clusters on bare stalks.

DISTRIBUTION: Europe including Britain, western and central Asia.
