BOTANICAL NAME: Melalenca cajuputi
FAMILY: Myrtaceae
COMMON NAMES: Cajuput,
White samet.
DESCRIPTION: Cajaput is an evergreen shrub, or more
usually a single –stemmed tree with a fairly dense and wide crown that is
somewhat silvery in appearance . It grows up to 25 meters tall.
DISTRIBUTION: Myanmar,
Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia.
PART USED: A volatile oil obtained by the steam distillation of leaves
and twigs. It is a colorless, yellow, or green liquid. Odor agrreable
and camphoraceous, taste bitter, aromatic. It is highly volatile. Freely
soluble in alcohol. The leaves are alternate, tapering at both ends. Flowers
are white or cream colored , in dense spikes. Fruits are woody, cup-shaped
capsules.

A remedy for flatulence
and affections of tongue. Sense of enlargement. Profuse sweating. Gout.
Neuralgic affections, not inflammatory. Nervous dyspnoea.
