CINERARIA MARITIMA

BOTANICAL NAME:  Senecio cineraria DC

FAMILY:  Compositae

COMMON NAMES:  English: Dusty miller.

DESCRIPTION:  A perennial shrub up to 75 cm in heigfht, branching from the base, very white wooly throughout, especially under the leaves.  Leaves pinnatified with oblong and obtuse segments. Head usually radiates 0.6 -1.25 cm high, disposed in small compact cyme.

DISTRIBUTION: Mediterranean region. Also being cultivated in India.

PART USED:  Whole plant excluding root.

HOMOEOPATHIC USES

CATARACT:  Has some reputation in the cure of cataract and corneal opacities.  Is used externally , by instilling into the eye one drop of eye drop ,  4-5 times a day. This must be kept up for several months. Most effective in traumatic cases.
