HOMOEOPATHY FOR CUBITAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Cubital tunnel syndrome is a condition caused by increased pressure on or stretch of the ulnar nerve that passes behind the elbow ( also causes the funny bone sensation ).
Cubital tunnel syndrome happens when the ulnar nerve, which passes through the cubital tunnel, a tunnel of muscle, ligament and bone, on the inside of the elbow, is injured and becomes inflamed, swollen, and irritated.
People commonly notice it when sleeping or when holding the phone-any activity where the elbow is in a bent position for long period.
CAUSES
Three potential causes of this condition includes:
Pressure:  The ulnar nerve has little padding over it , so direct pressure ( like leaning your arm on an arm rest, )can cause the arm and hand-especially the ring and small fingers to fall asleep.
Stretching: Keeping the elbow bent for a long time can stretch the ulnar nerve. This can happen while you sleep or if you are holding a phone for a long period of time.
Anatomy: Sometimes the ulnar nerve simply does not stay in its place. It will snap back and forth overa bony bump as you move your elbow, which can irritate the nerve.
SYMPTOMS
Common signs and symptoms include:
·         Numbness
·         Tingling
·         Pain
·         Weakness of the hand
Numbness and tingling are commonly felt in the ring and small fingers.
DIAGNOSIS
·         Medical history and physical exam.
·         Nerve conduction test. A test to find out how fast signals travel down a nerve to find a compression or constriction of the nerve.
·         Electromyogram( EMG ). This test checks nerve and muscle function and may be used to test the forearm muscles controlled by the ulnar nerve. If the muscles do not work the way they should , it may be a sign that there is a problem with the ulnar nerve.
·         X-ray. This done to look at the bones of the elbow and see if you have arthritis or bone spurs in your elbow.
PREVENTION
Cubital tunnel syndrome can be prevented by not:
·         Bending the elbow for long periods of time.
·         Putting pressure on elbow for long periods of time.
Some people may not be able to prevent cubital tunnel syndrome because of the anatomy of their elbow-the way the bones, nerves, and soft tissues come together in the elbow.
HOMOEOPATHIC REMEDIES
Homoeopathy today is a rapidly growing system and is being practiced all over the world. It strength lies in its evident effectiveness as it takes a holistic approach towards the sick individual through promotion of inner balance  at mental, emotional, spiritual and physical levels. When CUBITAL TUNNEL SYNDROME   is concerned there are many effective medicines available in Homoeopathy , but the selection depends upon the individuality of the patient , considering mental and physical symptoms.

ANGUSTURA VERA: Arms tired and heavy. Coldness of fingers.
ARANEA DIADEM:  A powerful remedy acting on nervous system. Numbness of parts supplied by the ulnar nerve. Arms feel numb. Limbs feel heavy.
ARGENTUM NITRICUM: Numbness of arms. Numbness of finger tips, ring and little fingers. Fingers half clenched, cannot be separated.
HYPERICUM PERFORATUM:  Traumatic neuralgia or neuritis. Injury to ulnar nerve or elbow.  Pressure along ulnar side of arm. Tingling, burning and numbness of arm. Pain in finger tips.
JATROPHA CURAS: Numbness of elbow extending to fingers. Coldness of whole body.
KALMIA LATIFOLIA:  Pain along ulnar nerve, goes into third and fourth fingers. Weakness, numbness, pricking, and sense of coldness of limbs. Tingling and numbness of the arm. Joints red , hot and swollen.
