SOLANUM XANTHOCARPUM

BOTANICAL NAME:  Solanum surratense Burm.

 FAMILY:  Solanaceae

COMMON NAMES: Yellow berried nightshade, Kantakari, Wild eggplant.

DESCRIPTION: Is a very prickly, diffuse, bright green perennial herb. Leaves ovate or elliptic, sinuate, or sub pinnatifid. Flowers in extra axillary, few flowered cymes, sometimes reduced to single flower.

PART USED: Whole plant is used for the preparation of mother tincture

HOMOEOPATHIC USES

It is a sovereign remedy in asthma. Excellent remedy for hoarseness with cough. Catarrhal fever. Chest pain. Respiratory diseases with aphonia. Broncho-pneumonia. Retention of urine. It is also a sure preventive against small pox.
