BOTANICAL NAME: Polygala senega Linn.

FAMILY: Polygalaceae

COMMON NAMES: English: Senega snake root.  

DESCRIPTION:  Stems several from a thick root, erect, angled, and simple. Leaves lanceolate to lance-elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, scabrous on the margin. Racemes spike-like. Fruit a capsule.

DISTRIBUTION:  United States

PART USED: Root.

HOMOEOPATHIC USES

BRONCHTIS: Cough. Cough often ends in a sneez. Bursting pain in back on coughing. Rattling in chest. Albuminous or blood –streaked sputum. Bronchial catarrh with sore chest walls, much mucus, sensation of oppression and weight of chest. Bronchitis of old people.  Difficult raising of tough, profuse, mucus in the aged.

POTENCY:  Mother tincture to 30 potency.
