HOMOEOPATHY FOR GREY HAIR

Greying is a sign of natural aging process. Skin contains millions of hair follicles that contain a pigment called melanin. As age advances hair follicles lose this pigment, turning hair color grey.  Greying of hair starts at late 40s and 50s. Premature graying of hair can start as early as in 20s.

Now a day’s premature gray hair is a serious health  problem among youngsters. White hair is more noticeable in people with a darker hair color. Although white color is characteristic of aging , but it can appear at any  age.

Causes

Genetics—Genetics plays an important role for the appearance of white hair prematurely. If your parents, or grandparents had graying at an early age, you develop white hair.

Stress—Everyone deals with stress from time to time. Stress can affect your hair. It will be a culprit for premature graying of hair.  The consequences of chronic stress can also  include:

·         Sleep problems

·         Anxiety

·         Change in appetite

·         High blood pressure

Autoimmune disease—An autoimmune disease can also cause premature white hair. Here the body’s immune system attacks its own cells. In the case of alopecia and vitiligo , the immune system can attack hair and cause loss of pigment.

Thyroid disorder—Hormonal changes caused by a thyroid problem, such as hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism may also responsible for premature white hair. An overative or underactive thyroid can produce less melanin.

Vitamin B-12 deficiency—White hair at an early age also indicate a vitamin B-12 deficiency. This vitamin plays an important role in body for giving energy, plus it contributes to healthy hair growth and hair color. A vitamin B-12 deficiency is associated with a condition called pernicious anemia, in which  the body cannot absorb enough of this vitamin. Vitamin B-12 is essential for healthy red blood cells, which carry oxygen to cells , including hair cells. A deficiency can weaken hair cells and affect melanin production.

Smoking—Long term use of cigarettes can affect hair , in addition to heart and lungs. Smoking constricts blood vessels , which can reduce blood flow to hair follicles and cause hair loss. Additionally toxins in cigarettes can damage parts of the body, including hair follicles , causing early white hair.

LYCOPODOUM CLAVATUM 200—Lycopodium clavatum is a best  remedy for gray hair, especially in man. Hair falls, and hair becomes gray early. Whiteness of hair seen in spots.  Dandruff with a bad smell from the scalp. Severe itching and burning in scalp. Abdominal affections associated with this complaint. Flatulent abdomen. Lycopodium patient prefer warm food and hot drinks. Desire for sweets is characteristic to Lycopodium clavatum.It is usually adapted to timid persons with loss of self confidence. 

NATRUM MURIATICUM 200—Natrum muriaticum is best for  gray hair and hair loss , especially in women. Gray hair, especially in anemic weak persons. Severe headache is seen Natrum mur persons. Natrum mur improves the general health of the patient.  Natrum mur patients are depressed and introvert. Consolation aggravates her complaints. Cannot cry in front of others . Wants to be alone to cry. They are highly emotional. Desire for salt and salty meat is characteristic  to Natrum muriaticum.

PHOSPHORIC ACID 6C—Phosphoric acid is one of the  best remedies for gray hair and it can restore the color of the hair very effectively. Graying of hair and  hair loss after grief or loss of fluids. Hair thins out, gray early , falls out. Mentally the person is dull and listless. Apathetic . Indifferent to everything. Aversion to talking. Home sickness, with inclination to weep.

PILOCARPUS 1000—Turns white hair black. Excessive dryness of scalp. Profuse perspiration from all parts of the body is characteristic to Pilocarpus.

PHOSPHORUS 200—Phosphorus is another excellent remedy for gray hair and  hair loss, where hair falls out in large bunches in spots. Dandruff with severe itching of scalp. Premature graying of hair also seen. Phosphorus is suited to tall , slender persons of sanguine temperament , fair skin, blonde or red hair, quick, lively perceptions and sensitive nature. Craves cold, cold drinks, chocolate, and candies.

SILICEA 200—Silicea is best for gray hair and  hair loss with premature baldness. Gray hair with defective nutrition, due to imperfect assimilation.  Profuse sweat of head, which is offensive. Moist crusty eruptions are seen on scalp.  Severe itching and prickling of the scalp. Offensive sweat is seen on the feet and axillae.

THYROIDINUM 200—Thyroidinum is best for gray hair and hair loss due to hormonal imbalance, thyroid hormones. Thyroidunum stops graying and falling of hair

VINCA MINOR 30—Vinca minor is best for premature graying of  hair and  hair loss due to eruptions on scalp. Spots on scalp oozing foul moisture, matting hair together. Intense itching of scalp. Irresistible desire to scratch. Bald spots covered with short woolly hair. Hair falls out and is replaced by gray hair.
