HOMOEOPATHY FOR VITILIGO

Vitiligo  is a disease that causes the loss of skin color in blotches. The extent and rate of color loss from vitiligo is unpredictable. It can affect the skin on any part of your body. It may also affect hair and the inside of the mouth.

Almost 1 percent of the world’s population has vitiligo. When you have vitiligo, the cells that are responsible for your skin color are destroyed. These cells, called melanocytes, no longer produce skin pigment, called melanin. Once the cells no longer produce melanin, areas of your skin will lose color or turn white. The condition is not life-threatening or contagious. It can be stressful or make you feel bad about yourself.

Vitiligo can start at any age, but often appears before age 20.

Depending on the type of vitiligo you have, the discolored patches may cover:

·         Many parts of your body. With this most common type, called generalized vitiligo, the discolored patches often progress similarly on corresponding body parts (symmetrically).

·         Only one side or part of your body. This type, called segmental vitiligo, tends to occur at a younger age, progress for a year or two, then stop.

·         One or only a few areas of your body. This type is called localized (focal) vitiligo.

It's difficult to predict how your disease will progress. Sometimes the patches stop forming without treatment. In most cases, pigment loss spreads and eventually involves most of your skin. Rarely, the skin gets its color back.

Causes

Vitiligo occurs when pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) die or stop producing melanin — the pigment that gives your skin, hair and eyes color. The involved patches of skin become lighter or white. Doctors don't know why the cells fail or die. It may be related to:

·         A disorder in which your immune system attacks and destroys the melanocytes in the skin

·         Family history (heredity)

·         A trigger event, such as sunburn, stress or exposure to industrial chemicals

Symptoms

The main sign of vitiligo is patchy loss of skin color. Usually, the discoloration first shows on sun-exposed areas, such as the hands, feet, arms, face and lips.

Vitiligo signs include:

·         Patchy loss of skin color

·         Premature whitening or graying of the hair on your scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows or beard

·         Loss of color in the tissues that line the inside of your mouth and nose (mucous membranes)

·         Loss of or change in color of the inner layer of the eyeball (retina)

BACILLINUM 200—Bacillinum is best for vitiligo , where the person frequently suffer from respiratory infections. There is a history of tuberculosis  or a family history of tuberculosis. Great weakness is seen with fever. Emaciation is marked. Glands of both groins are enlarged

CALCAREA CARB 200—Calcarea carb is an excellent remedy for Vitiligo , where milky spots are seen on the skin.  Calcarea carb is more suitable to fat , flabby and fair persons , catch cold easily. Excessive perspiration, especially  on head, chest  during sleep is a characteristic  symptom.  Craving for eggs is another leading symptom. Also they desire indigestible things like  pencils, dirt, coal, chalk etc.  All discharges like stools, sweat, saliva , odor of the body etc  are profuse and sour.  Calcarea carb person is easily exhausted due to overwork. Woman with too early, too profuse, too long lasting menses, with subsequent amenorrhea and chlorosis with menses scanty or suppressed.

GRAPHITES 30—Graphites is also effective for Vitiligo of obese persons. It is best adapted to  women, inclined to obesity, who suffer from habitual constipation, with a history of delayed menstruation. Menses  scanty, pale, late, with violent colic.  They are sad , despondent, music makes her weep; thinks of nothing , but death. There is an history of suppressed skin eruptions. Skin unhealthy suppurates. Cracks and fissures are seen in the end of fingers, nipples, labia, anus, and between toes.

SEPIA 30—Sepia is another effective remedy for vitiligo , especially in women and children. White patches are seen on face, lips and scalp. Along with this constitutional symptoms of Sepia are also considered. Sepia patient are easily angered, sensitive and highly irritable. They are easily offended and miserable.  Irritability alternating with indifference. Indifference to her family members and those who loved her. Aversion to family and those loved best to sympathy to company. In woman hormonal disorders are seen. Loss of sex drive and sexual disorders. They are constantly depressed and cries when telling her symptoms.

Menses irregularity is another marked feature. Menses either early or late, scanty and painful in young girls. They have weak uterus, having a feeling of dragging or bearing down sensation as if everything would escape through the vagina.

NITRIC ACID 30---Nitric acid is effective when the white patches are seen at the muco-cutaneous  junction , especially more at the angle of the mouth, eyes, nose, nipples, glans penis , vulva etc. Discolored zigzag patches with irregular edges  are seen on the skin. The base looks like flesh. The patient have a special longing for indigestible things like chalk, earth etc. , especially in children. They have a craving for fat and salt

SULPHUR 200—Sulphur is adapted to persons of nervous temperament, quick motioned, quick tempered, plethoric, skin excessively sensitive to atmospheric changes. Lean, stoop shouldered persons who walk and sit stooping; walk stooping like old men. They cannot bear to be washed, or bathed. Unhealthy skin. Dirty , filthy people prone to skin affections. Vitiligo from suppressed skin diseases, fevers , diarrhea, jaundice etc. Sensation of burning is characteristic to Sulphur. Burning of feet and palms , worse at night. Itching and burning of skin.

THUJA OCCIDENTALIS 200—Thuja occidentalis is excellent for vitiligo , where the patient have taken all type of vaccinations. For the bad effects of vaccination Thuja occidentalis is the top rated remedy. It is adapted to hydrogenous constitution., acts well in very fleshy persons, dark complexion, black hair and unhealthy skin. Profuse, sour smelling, fetid sweat at night. Sweat on uncovered parts only or all over except head , when he sleeps, stops when he wakes.

ARSENICUM SULFURAT. FLAVUM 3x--Ars sulf. flava is considered a specific remedy for vitiligo. Skin dry, itching and cracked. Intense torturing anxiety and apprehension are seen in patients. 

BARYTA MURIATICA 30-Barta mur. is best for vitiligo having small spots. The patient  has small spots and whitish patches all around his head, nape of the neck, abdomen and thighs. These white spots are often associated with itchy eruptions all over the exposed parts of the body

PSORALEA CORYL. 3X- 5 drops daily is an excellent remedy for vitiligo or  It is used externally in the form of oil. After applying the oil , exposure to sun rays must be avoided .

STAPHYSAGRIA 30-Staphysagria is prescribed when Vitiligo is present  at the tip of penis. Itching, scratching changes location of itching occurs.
